READY OR NOT, 2020 HERE WE GO! If you are like me, the change of a decade may have you wondering, where have the years gone and just how short life is. Sorry for waxing a bit philosophically on the opening of this education update! 2020 is looking to be another big year for KSHE education opportunities. We plan to build on many things we did in 2019 with the additional effort of improving quality, access, and variety.

  1. Lunch and Learn Webinars – February, April, June, August, October, & December will be our calendar for 2020.
  2.  Free Competency Based Training – With the launch of the CHFT this year, KSHE will participate by sponsoring technician training that supports and prepares technicians for the exam. The goal is to deliver at least 5 (five) free sessions at no cost.  This is a first come first serve offering. Contact me or a KSHE board member to see if we can coordinate a time/date.
  3.  Certified Healthcare Contractor (CHC) Training –  We are planning at least three sessions in 2020 beginning in March.  We will also hold a session as part of our Annual Healthcare Coalition Conference in September in Owensboro.  We are also discussing how to streamline and create better accessibility as the expectation of contractor training increases.
  4.  Conference Scholarships – Each year we make scholarships available for the annual conference.  Be on the lookout for more in 2020.
  5. Additional free and no cost training.  Starting with this newsletter, we will be passing along training and education opportunities that come to our attention.  While some of these may be very vendor specific and even at times be a bit of a sales pitch, we believe that it is our job to let you know about opportunities and then let you decide if it is a need for you.  Following are a few:

It is the KSHE board's hope that you not only see the value of being a KSHE member, but that you are proud to be part of KSHE as a member and can share with your organizations leadership the importance, value, and service we are providing the profession, your organization, and the patients we serve!

We look forward to your participation in the many opportunities close to home!

Best,

Mike, VP KSHE Education – mike.canales@kctcs.edu
