Here’s a scary statistic. Thirty-six percent of children age five and younger in Kane County are overweight or obese. That means that one in every three children is at risk for significant health problems, from diabetes to hypertension. And, according to a July 2012 Community Health Needs Assessment survey issued by Cadence Health, "childhood obesity is threatening to make the current younger generation the first in history to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents."
