GTLA COURAGEOUS PURSUIT OF JUSTICE AWARD (aka Nestlehutt
Award)
GTLA presents this award to the client of a GTLA member
during the Annual Convention each year. Our goal is to recognize a client
whose pursuit of justice helped the greater good. It's not about the size
of the verdict, or even a victory. It's about courage the client showed
against great odds and powerful opponents. Think about your clients and
nominate one if you feel appropriate. Nominations need to be sent
directly to Emily Hurt at ehurt@gtla.org.
GTLA COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
We present this award to a GTLA
member during the Annual Convention each year. As the name implies, we
hope to recognize a GTLA member who has shown dedication to his or hercommunity
inline with GTLA's mission. Nominations need to be sent directly
to Emily Hurt.
FRED ORR MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
Fred Orr was a staunch supporter, Past President and beloved
member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. The W. Fred Orr II
Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his family and friends to
memorialize him in an honorable and befitting manner and to ensure that Fred's
passion for GTLA and his encouragement and mentoring of younger lawyers lives
on. GTLA awards at least one scholarship per year to pay for membership
dues and attendance at the Annual Convention for eligible beginning plaintiff's
lawyers.
Interested individuals will provide a one-page essay on the
subject of why they want to be a plaintiff's lawyer along with details of how
their participation in GTLA will both enhance their own professionalism and
contribute to the success of the organization. Requirements for
applicants include the following:
- Must
be eligible for GTLA membership per criteria set forth in the GTLA
Constitution and By-laws
- Must
not have been a prior member of GTLA.
- Must
demonstrate financial need for the scholarship.
- Scholarships
are for the exclusive use of the recipient and may not be transferred.
Please submit essays directly
to Emily Hurt. All essays will be kept confidential and reviewed only
by the W. Fred Orr II Scholarship Committee and GTLA staff.
