  In Memoriam
GSAE Past President Jim Parkman, age 91, died February 26, 2023. A resident of Cumming, Georgia, he served as Executive Vice President of the Business Council of Georgia from 1967 until his retirement in 1991. The Business Council, a statewide employers' association, now functions as the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He was an American Society of Association Executives Certified Association Executive, served as President of the Georgia Society of Association Executives, as President of the Atlanta Society for Human Resource Management, and as a Director of the Atlanta City Club and was active in numerous other professional and civic groups. GSAE's Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) offer one of the best resources for association executives and professionals. These self-directed groups of GSAE members focus on a particular area and delve into various topics within that area.

 

  • Internship grant applications are due May 1
  • Any organization in Georgia that employs at least one GSAE member may apply
  • Applications will be judged on the quality of the internship experience
  • It is the responsibility of the organization to recruit a qualified student to fill the internship
  • Recipients will be announced during the 2023 GSAE Annual Meeting in Charleston, SC

Peachtree Corners, Georgia. ASHRAE, a global nonprofit association headquartered within metro Atlanta, in Peachtree Corners, has a mid-entry level opening for someone that has experience staffing tradeshows and marketing professional educational opportunities and/or technical publications. Responsibilities include: Plan, attend and coordinate industry trade shows, conferences, and events; develop and coordinate promotional campaigns; meet with marketing points of contact to create upcoming promotion schedule, report on campaign success and current strategy, and share relevant data. This is a hybrid position requiring some weekly days in the office located in Peachtree Corners, GA, as well as some domestic and international travel.
 
Remote in the United States / Hybrid option if you live in the state of Georgia. This position is responsible for leading cross functional teams to support the successful delivery of complex organizational Information Technology and other business driven IT projects. Primary responsibilities include creation and evolution of core technical project management processes and methodologies for the organization that directly supports strategic and fiscal goals, as well as creation of effective and efficient processes for communicating progress. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience; minimum 7 years of experience in all phases of systems and application implementation and development.
 
Hybrid office in Atlanta, Georgia. Kellen is a global management and communications company serving more than 125 trade associations, professional societies, and charitable organizations representing over 10,000 companies and 100,000 professionals worldwide. The Membership and Administration Associate assists in management of operations of multiple association clients, supporting efforts relating to strategy, operations, membership, communications, conferences and meetings, and financial oversight. This position provides board and committee support, works with senior executives to implement member programs and services, assists in conference and meeing management, and helps support financial oversight.
 
Remote. This position is responsible for performing the accounting functions for the International Society of Explosives Engineers and the Society of Explosives Engineers Education Fund. Duties include preparing monthly financial documents and reports to help manage the organization, handling accounts receivable and accounts payable, processing member payments, accurately coding income and expenses for Society and Foundation activities according to the chart of accounts, preparing annual departmental summaries of revenues and expenses, and working with auditors and tax firms, among other responsibilities. Proficiency with Quick Books, Excel, web-based cloud tools required. Knowledge of GAAP required. Familiarity with non-profit GAAP preferred.
