Keynote: Special Abit Massey Lecturer - Dr. Stefanie Lindquist

Dr. Stefanie Lindquist became Senior Vice President of Global Academic Initiatives at Arizona State University in November 2019, where she facilitates ASU's global academic portfolio. Prior to taking that position, she served as Deputy Provost and VP for Academic Affairs, and Foundation Professor of Law and Political Science at ASU from 2016 to 2019. She served as Dean and Arch Professor at UGA's School of Public and International Affairs from 2013 to 2016, after serving as Interim Dean, Associate Dean for Outreach, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas School of Law. Prior to teaching at the University of Texas, Professor Lindquist taught law and political science at Vanderbilt University. She also served as a visiting faculty member at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2013.

GSAE's Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) offer one of the best resources for association executives and professionals. These self-directed groups of GSAE members focus on a particular area and delve into various topics within that area. In addition to learning from the "experts" in a particular area of interest, GSAE's SIGs offer members a place to discuss issues of personal relevance with peers. Learn more about our SIGs here.

Member News

The Industry Council for Tangible Assets board of directors announced that David Crenshaw has been appointed the new executive director, effective January 1, 2021. David has previously served as ICTA's chief operating officer for the past seven years.

Crenshaw said, "I am honored and excited to lead ICTA. I am looking forward to working with our dedicated board of directors and members. Together, we will continue to build upon ICTA’s successful history, focused on promoting and safeguarding the interests of its members.” Learn more.

 

 

Peter Finsen, FPCI, Assoc. AIA stepped down as Executive Director from Georgia/Carolinas PCI as of January 1, 2021. He will continue serving as CEO until his announced retirement on March 7, 2021 to assist with a smooth transition. 

Ray Clark, who is taking over as Executive Director, said about Peter's upcoming retirement, "Your 20 years of dedicated service to Georgia/Carolinas PCI has built a strong foundation on which I look forward to continuing to maintain and build upon further. I believe we have a dedicated membership that is willing to tackle the strategic plan that you, the Executive Committee and the Board worked diligently to develop.”

 

Ray Clark has been appointed as the Georgia/Carolinas PCI Executive Director, effective January 1, 2021. Ray has 22 years of experience in the precast concrete industry, and his past leadership roles include President of US Formliner, Associate Director on the G/C PCI Board of Directors and Chairman of the G/C PCI Education Committee. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the PCI Foundation, as well as the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA), and Canadian Precast Concrete Institute (CPCI). Dr. Michael Tatonetti, CAE, CPP has been promoted to Vice President at Professional Pricing Society. Dr. Michael has been with PPS for five years and will be overseeing strategy for the organization in his new role.

Brittney Love has joined Georgia Association of Water Professionals as Business Operations Manager. 
Jennifer Baker has started a new position as Manager, Meetings and Technology at Southern Association of Orthodontists.

The Savannah Convention Center has announced a major expansion, scheduled to open in 2023. After the expansion, the convention center will include 200,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, a new 40,000 square foot ballroom, and 32 customizable break-out rooms. During construction, the Savannah Convention Center will remain open for meetings and conventions. Resources include new relief package information, a GSAE in-person meetings tool kit, and sample questions list to work through with a facility. We encourage our hotels, facilities, and CVBs to access these resources too. We are all partners in keeping our attendees and visitors safe and using data-based decision-making practices.

GACVB's Annual Conference is your early 2021 opportunity for statewide destination marketing and management networking. Tourism professionals will join together with industry services partners and hospitality affiliates to share successes and find solutions in promotions and product development. USAE has published and will continue to update a list of facilities who have received the Global Biorisk Advisory CouncilTM (GBAC) STAR Facility Accreditation. To receive the accreditation, facilities must comply with 20 elements geared at establishing and maintaining an infectious disease prevention program. Learn more about GBAC STAR and view the latest list of accredited facilities by state.

 

Registration for GSAE's CAE study group is now available and will begin meeting in summer 2021. Need something sooner? Our colleagues at MSAE offer a variety of opportunities and a discounted rate for GSAE members. 

In light of COVID-19, the CAE Commission has made a few adjustments for those originally due to renew their CAE by December 2020:

  • The renewal deadline has been extended from December 31, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
  • The cap on self-study has been lifted. All 40 credits needed for renewal may be taken through any amount of live and/or approved self-study courses.
  • The early-renewal discount will be extended to completed renewals submitted through March 31, 2021. The discounted renewal fee is $275 for ASAE members and $425 for nonmembers.
