The U.S. manufacturing sector contracted further in December, as the impact of a stronger U.S. dollar undermined export profitability, while U.S. construction spending fell for the first time in nearly 18 months in November, suggesting only moderate economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The UK's manufacturing sector grew at its slowest pace for three months in December, a survey has indicated.
The Markit/CIPS UK manufacturing PMI fell to 51.9 in December, down from 52.5 in November and from October's measure of 55.5. Any figure over 50 indicates expansion.

In the next 20 years, the number of Wisconsin residents over age 65 is expected to double from 750,000 to 1.5 million, said Jim Morgan, vice president of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, and president of the WMC Foundation. Over that same period, the state anticipates about 300,000 job vacancies and just 15,000 people in the 18- to 65-year-old age group to fill them. Further, manufacturers will be competing with all sectors for those workers, according to Morgan.

The White House has announced that President Barack Obama will join German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Hannover, Germany at Hannover Messe to participate in the world’s largest trade show for industrial technology.
