After years of consulting with industry, Transport Canada will be issuing changes to the training requirements under its Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations. The changes will be published in the Canada Gazette Part II in spring and will allow one year for industry to adapt to the new requirements.

For the past few years, Transport Canada has been working on fee modernization for means of containment facilities registration program. Consultations were conducted between 2018 and 2021. Industry feedback included concerns that the increases could amount to more than a 100 per cent increase in some facilities. TC has reportedly taken these comments into consideration and will be proceeding to a planned publication in Gazette Part II in spring 2023.

Transport Canada will not be incorporating the propane industry’s request that information for Emergency Response Assistance Plan participants fulfill requirements for its Client Information Database (CID) that it is in the process of developing. Having ERAP requirements fulfill the CID registration requirements would have avoided a duplication of efforts.

As part of Canada Gazette’s ongoing efforts to evolve into a ‘modern, digital publication’ it is now implementing its new online commenting feature for regulation proposals that it launched last September 27, 2022.

Nova Scotia’s Technical Safety Advisory Board (TSAB) is actively recruiting members to participate on its Board. There are nine positions that are assigned for specific industry representation.

The CPA is creating a working group to develop a response to the federal government’s proposed amendments to the Passenger Automobile and Light Truck Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulations that would require all vehicles sold after 2035 to be 100% zero-emission vehicles (ZEV).
