The Nova Scotia Chief Fuel Safety Inspector released Fuel Safety Bulletin FS18-02: Regency Ultimate U39 Direct Vent Gas Stove. This Product Advisory pertains to the Regency Ultimate U39 Direct Vent Gas Stove line of fireplaces, which includes model numbers U39-NG10, U39-NG1 and U39-LP1 manufactured between January 1, 2011 and January 18, 2018 with serial numbers 315004536 to 315012548.

In 2016, the province of Nova Scotia endorsed the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, which included a commitment to establish a cap and trade program. As part of this process, Nova Scotia passed amendments to the Environment Act in October 2017 to enable the government to establish the cap and trade program and create supporting regulations.

Ongoing Consultation & Updates

In 2016, Transport Canada received funding to implement a Transportation of Dangerous Goods Client Identification Database (TDG CID) as a means to improve oversight of the transportation of dangerous goods in Canada and support better risk management. TDG CID is also being developed to address recommendations from the Office of the Auditor General and Transportation Safety Board to improve knowledge and awareness of its transportation of dangerous goods stakeholder base.

On September 21, 2017, the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) entered into force provisionally. Chapter 21 of the CETA lays out the framework through which the Parties will carry out regulatory cooperation activities. This includes the establishment of a new Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF) with the mandate of facilitating and promoting regulatory cooperation.
