The CPA has submitted comments on the government proposal to impose carbon intensity reduction requirements to natural gas liquids (NGLs). The CPA is proposing that Environment and Climate Change Canada postpones including NGL in phase one, as some jurisdictions have done. For more details, read the CPA submission, available on The Grid. The CPA wishes to thank all the members who have participated actively in the preparation of the submission.
The Canadian Propane Association (CPA) held its Ontario Lobby Day on April 16 at the Ontario Legislature in Queen’s Park. Braving the elements, more than 30 CPA members met with more than 30 MPPs, ministers and political staff. On April 11, Jean-François Duguay, CPA Director of Government Relations, Atlantic and Québec, and Allan Murphy, CPA Vice President of Government Relations, along with representatives from Blue Bird Buses and Roush Clean Tech attended the Atlantic School Buses Committee meeting to discuss the benefits of propane-fuelled school buses, an ideal low-cost, low-emission solution for school boards.

The Canadian Business Quarterly (The CBQ) recently published an editorial written by the CPA promoting the benefits of propane: How Canada and the World Can Benefit from the Reliability of Propane. The CBQ is a digital publication that focuses on business and economic development issues taking place across the country. It has a national audience of more than 24,000 subscribers and an estimated readership of 55,000 across its magazine and website. View for more information.

Congratulations to Dowler-Karn for being the sole winner of this year’s Free Enterprise Masters Award! This award, which coincides with the company’s 75th anniversary, is one of the most prestigious business awards in St. Thomas and is a testament to the work the company has accomplished in the community and across much of southwestern Ontario. The award will be presented during a reception on May 9. For more information, click here
Rick Nolan of Wilsons Home Heating has been recognized by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency as an Employer Champion Leader. Under Nolan’s leadership, Wilsons Home Heating employees are encouraged to register for the program and are given the support necessary to complete the apprenticeship training. Nolan, a strong advocate for the Apprenticeship Program, has always maintained a close working relationship with the Agency and takes great pride in seeing Wilsons apprentices receive their certification. Congratulations Rick on this well-deserved accolade.
Propane consumers winners in the province of Prince Edward Island's new budget presented on April 6, 2018. The provincial portion of HST will be rebated on firewood, pellets and propane through a point of sale credit or rebate. The CPA will share additional information on this measure as it becomes available.
