Although trucking prices plateued somewhat in March, they remain at an elevated level over last year, while intermodal rose sharply from February to March. Intermodal prices are now 13 percent higher than last year, possibly a sign that shippers are exploring other options in light of trucking's capacity crunch.

Food Safety News

April 6 was the deadline for complying with the Food Safety Modernization Act's Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food Rule. Fortunately, the number of options available for tools geared toward cleaning and sanitizing refrigerated trucks has grown in response to the requirements.
Although it tightened deadlines just a few months ago, Walmart Inc. has announced that now will allow food and some other types of shipments to arrive a day early at some of its regional distribution centers.

Supply Chain Dive
Compliance with the electronic logging device (ELD) mandate is high, with an estimated rate of 97 percent. The question now is what the long-term effect of the mandate will be across industries, experts say.
