NRCan’s ‘Who Will Be the First?’ ENERGY STAR Certification challenge for buildings.

Have you heard? As a utility, are you ready?


You can help to promote and engage your customers in achieving the coveted recognition of ENERGY STAR Certification. It’s a universally recognized and acclaimed label of superior energy performance and efficiency.

Seven building types are eligible to apply for ENERGY STAR Certification starting on March 26 2018, by using NRCan’s free online energy benchmarking tool – ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. An eligible building that has achieved an ENERGY STAR score of 75 or more could become among the firsts in Canada to become ENERGY STAR Certified.

Your clients can demonstrate environmental stewardship and sustainability through recognition, and if their application is approved, their building(s) could earn the distinction of being among the first ENERGY STAR Certified buildings in Canada!

What do your clients need to do to participate?

  1. Register their building(s) in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
  2. Benchmark their building with at least 12 consecutive months of metred energy data.
  3. Submit their application for ENERGY STAR certification in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager between March 26 and April 30, 2018, 11:59 p.m. PDT.
