CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
On December 12, during its board meeting, CARB reviewed the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation and heard extensive testimony from community groups, environmental organizations and industry representatives including the California Trucking Association (CTA), the CTA Intermodal Conference and the American Trucking Associations (ATA). Among CTA’s comments to the board regarding the large entity reporting requirement were recommendations to streamline the data collection process, ensure protection of confidential information and allow entities more time to gather data.
Compliance and Regulatory News
Last week, the United States, Mexico and Canada reached an agreement to modernize NAFTA. The new trade agreement, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), includes: On January 1, 2020, California’s minimum wage will increase to $13 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees and $12 for employers with 25 or fewer employees; however, please note that some cities and counties have a local minimum wage that is higher than the state rate. Employers are required to post information on wages, hours and working conditions at a worksite area accessible to employees. More information For more information, view the NWS powerpoint.
