Shortly after midnight on Friday, August 31, 2018 the Legislature gaveled down on the 2017-18 legislative session. Several pieces of legislation that directly affect trucking were sent to Governor Brown's desk along with several other pieces being stopped or significantly amended before session ended.

The California Air Resources Board released a list of communities which will be targeted for enhanced air quality monitoring and preparation of community-specific emission reduction programs.

We will continue to advocate to ensure fleets are not subjected to duplicative requirements as CARB considers adoption of a new smog-check like program for trucks.

The Declaration is effective from September 11, 2018 until the end of the emergency or until October 10, 2018, whichever is sooner.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration plans to reduce annual Unified Carrier Registration fees in 2019. Carriers with one or two trucks will pay $63 for 2019 registration, collection for which will begin around Oct. 1, FMCSA says. The agency last year proposed cutting 2019 fees to $73, but the agency now proposes to cut the fee further, by another $10. Carriers operating three to five trucks will pay $187 for 2019 — $40 less than 2017’s fees.

Each year, California Trucking Association provides an opportunity for grade school level and special education school children to learn about the importance of trucking in their lives and community.
