CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
The California Transportation Permit Advisory Council (CTPAC) met on Thursday, February 15th at CTA HQ. One of the items that the CTPAC group voted on was to reduce the number of CTPAC meetings from 3 per year to 2 per year. One meeting will be in the North (at CTA HQ) and one will occur in Southern California.

The Senate has confirmed Ray Martinez as Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Mr. Martinez was confirmed on Feb. 13 by a voice vote.

Prior to his nomination, Martinez served as chairman and chief administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC). He was the chairman of the MVC Board and an executive branch member of the New Jersey State Planning Commission. Martinez was also selected by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) to serve as a member of its international board of directors.

Statewide Event Calendar
Register for next month's Special Safety Council Meeting: In-Depth Terrorism Awareness/Fusion Center Training. Back by popular demand, Kurt Carpenter, Field Intelligence Officer with TSA, will be giving an in depth four hour training on Basic Terrorism Awareness/Fusion Center Training with an overview of terrorism/major crimes. The training will take place on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at CTA Headquarters in Sacramento. Register here

Back by popular demand, the California Highway Patrol will be presenting on the ELD mandate at the Southern Safety Council Meeting. The meeting is on Tuesday, March 13 from 12:00 - 1:30pm and will be held at JJT Logistics in Ontario. Register Here

The annual Fleet Safety Awards Program is designed to honor the outstanding men and women of trucking and the companies which exemplify the highest degree of professionalism and safety in the industry. This program is only available to members, and gives you the opportunity to be recognized at the state level!
The Allied Conference is looking for donation of prizes as well as bag stuffers for their Annual Golf Tournament on March 19 at Aliso Viejo Country Club. Donations and attendance from members in Southern and Northern California are very much encouraged and are crucial for the success of this event which supports the Allied Conference and its efforts to support CTA’s Carrier members.

We had approximately 250 members attend the recent California Trucking Association 2018 Annual Membership Conference, The Heart of Trucking, in Monterey, CA. Members had a great time networking, learning, and seeing good friends. 
We look forward to seeing everyone next year in San Diego!

February 8-10 was the Sierra Cascade Logging Conference. The Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference and Equipment Show is the largest Forest Products and Construction Equipment Exposition in the West.
