In recent days, Governor Jerry Brown has been working behind the scenes on negotiations to pass an extension of the Cap and Trade program, which has been California’s main tool used by the California Air Resources Board to reduce emissions in the state. The Governor has been hastily meeting with Legislators and stakeholders to try and pass something before Legislators leave for summer recess on July 20th.

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we pass along word that CTA member Mary Evans passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017. The services for Mary Evans will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Whittier, CA. Wednesday July 5 is the viewing and Thursday July 6 is the service. Mary Elizabeth Stephens Evans was born the last of eight children to Herbert M. Stephens and Nannie Cantrell Stephens on January 20, 1922 in Gainesville, Texas.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) presents the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit (CVSS), in conjunction with the California Trucking Association, at the Radisson Hotel Newport Beach, Friday, October 13. This all-day event will include short breakout sessions facilitated by representatives of the California Highway Patrol.

On October 13, 2017, at the Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit (CVSS), the CHP will present the Safe Transportation Achievement Recognition (STAR) Awards. The STAR awards are an opportunity for the CHP to recognize motor carriers for their commitment and exemplary efforts to maintain a high level of highway safety.

Meet Anna Yarmolyuk! Anna has been a staff member of CTA for 7 months. She holds a position in the Accounting Department as the Supply Center Coordinator. She is responsible for overlooking all of the store activities such as assisting, receiving, and shipping orders. Along with shipping, she is responsible for all the incoming and outgoing mail. She also answers the main line and directs the calls to the appropriate representative.

Since 1992, the Truckers United Fraternity Super Offspring of the Boss (TUFSOB) has paid over $320,000 in scholarships to over 375 CTA members’ children and adults for their education.
