CTA's Pusher Truck Program Media Event
KTVN 2, Dec 21, 2016
Caltrans, the California Highway Patrol and California Trucking Association joined forces on Wednesday to discuss safe driving tips in winter weather...

Muscular Machines Nudge Semis Over Sierra
Auburn Journal, Dec 27, 2016
When a wild winter storm strafes the Sierra, even mighty big rigs may stumble and stall. The roadways can grow icy and slick as Teflon. The trucks hauling thousands of tons of cargo sometimes can’t get traction up the steep grades...

Every winter season creates challenges for our industry and the trucks that have to travel over California's high elevation mountain passes in order to make their deliveries. With the 2016-2017 winter months rapidly approaching, I'd like to call your attention to the Pusher Truck Program, one of the many CTA member benefits that makes a difference for hundreds of trucking companies each year as they pass the tough mountain climb on Interstate 80.

How the movement of freight intersects with government policy continues to be a major challenge for trucking companies, and in no place is this more evident than California. The 2016 elections saw California Democrats continue their dominance, and now have reached veto-proof majorities in both houses of the legislature. How can trucking companies grow their political status in this challenging environment? How can you communicate your companies concerns more effectively in order to influence policymaking?

Find out by attending CTA’s Annual Membership Conference, January 20-23, 2017 at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa. In this session you will hear from two well respected legislators who will share their insights on how to most effectively communicate with policymkers in Sacramento. Senator Anthony Cannella and Assemblymember Adam Gray will be on hand fielding questions from moderators Kelly Jensen and George Miller, CTA’s contract lobbyists.

Keep up to date with industry safety and compliance regulations by attending seminars that provide you with the skills and information you need. Seminars are held in Sacramento and Ontario throughout the year. Continuous learning should be everyone’s goal as we face fast changing technology and regulations.

Tina Ferguson, Vehicle Registration Manager
Start Date: September 2013
Department: Membership

Meet Tina! Tina joined the CTA team in September 2013 as an Events Coordinator for the Events Department. Tina then took on the responsibility of handling all vehicle registration services for CTA members. Aside from ensuring that all registrations are processed and submitted on time, she also manages all registrations for unit golf tournaments as well as the Truckers Rally for Kids event. She also assists with answering the phones and helping members in the Supply Center.

What three traits define you?
Personable, dedicated and responsible.

What is your personal philosophy?
Start every day with a smile and positive outlook. One thing I know for sure is that positive feeds on positive and negative feeds on negative. If I follow these daily, how can I go wrong?

Tell us two things most people don’t know about you?
Since a young age, I have always been fascinated with big trucks. I always wanted to be a truck driver but I started a family instead. I also love Sprint car races! My husband and I try to travel to as many races as possible during race season. My husband and I were high school sweethearts for 2 1/2 years then went our separate ways. 23 years later, we reunited and have been together for 18+ years.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I really enjoy getting to know our members and my role as Vehicle Registration Manager gives me a lot of opportunity to do that. I enjoy being able to provide such a great benefit to our membership.
