AMC 2017: Great Spouse/Guest Events

CTA’s Annual Membership Conference, January 20-23 at the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey not only has informative meetings, business sessions and education, but we provide several fun opportunities for spouses and guests as well!

A great opportunity to see old friends and make new ones in a fun, relaxed and even educational atmosphere. This class being held across the street from the hotel at The Wine Experience, is to help participants learn to identify major contributors to flavor and mouthfeel in a wine. In this facilitated class participants will learn to identify many aromas found in wines and get to sample several wines and identify the aromas in that wine. They’ll also participate in tasting demonstrations where a base wine is dosed in order to demonstrate how acids, sugars and tannins affect wines. Each participant will receive a handy guide to take home so that they can better assess and describe wines they drink in the future.

There is no fee to attend this event, but pre-registration is required.

Enjoy a docent lead tour. The National Steinbeck Center is located in John Steinbeck’s hometown of Salinas, California, in the heart of Steinbeck Country. The Center offers three distinct visitor experiences: literature and history, agriculture and art, as well special events and educational programs. Discover Steinbeck’s world through interactive, multi-sensory exhibits for all ages, rare artifacts, and seven themed theaters showcasing East of Eden, Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath and much more. 

The tour will be followed by an elegant lunch at John Steinbeck’s birthplace and boyhood home a restored Queen Anne Victorian. Built in Salinas in 1897, it was opened to the public as a restaurant on February 27, 1974 —the 72nd anniversary of John Steinbeck’s birth. This charming restaurant is located two blocks west of the National Steinbeck Center.

There is a $40 fee to attend this event. Transportation will be provided.
