Governor Signs CTA-Sponsored Legislation

Last Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed CTA’s co-sponsored legislation AB 2406 by into law. The measure, authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), protects California businesses from being charged unreasonable detention and demurrage fees.

As California consumers and businesses continue to struggle with high prices and supply chain issues, AB 2406 modifies existing law to protect Californians from unfair ocean shipping fees. We are grateful to the governor for singing into law the most substantive supply chain bill of the year and protecting California businesses.

We are grateful to all our coalition members who provided support and helped usher this bill through the finish line.

AB 2406 is set to become law on January 1, 2023.

Tell the California Air Resources Board to Fix the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) plans to adopt the proposed Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation during their board hearing on Thursday, October 27.

The rule will require fleets of 50 or more vehicles, those with greater than $50 million in revenue, and port/rail fleets of any size to purchase only zero-emission trucks starting as early as 2024.

We urge our members to voice your concerns and submit your comments to the board before the public comment period ends on October 17, 2022.

CARB must hear from you! Stop runaway air regulators from imposing draconian regulations.

City of Cerritos Route Restriction

The City of Cerritos is enforcing an illegal truck route ban on Shoemaker Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue to and from SR 91.

CTA informed the city of their illegal action, but the city will not revert the trucks routes without legal remedies.

We are asking our members if any of their drivers have received a citation for operating on the aforementioned routes.

Caltrans’ annual Winter Operations meeting is scheduled for this week:
