Governor Signs CTA-Sponsored Legislation
Last Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed CTA’s co-sponsored legislation AB 2406 by into law.
The measure, authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), protects California businesses from being charged unreasonable detention and demurrage fees.
As California consumers and businesses continue to struggle with high prices and supply chain issues, AB 2406 modifies existing law to protect Californians from unfair ocean shipping fees. We are grateful to the governor for singing into law the most substantive supply chain bill of the year and protecting California businesses.

AB 2406 is set to become law on January 1, 2023.
