Only 45 Percent of Registered Voters Support Split-Roll Measure, Poll Finds

Less than half of California’s registered voters support the split-roll property tax initiative, according to poll numbers released this month by the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education - confirming similar results from four other independent public polls from the last 12 months, all of which showed less than 50 percent of voters support the measure. The most recent USC poll revealed weak support for the $12.5 billion-a-year property tax increase despite 56 percent of respondents indicating that the state should spend more on public schools, indicating that voters realize the split-roll initiative would severely damage the state’s economy.
