AG Commodity Cargo Securement Update

CTA was recently notified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that the AG Cargo Securement final rule would be published on Monday, April 15 .To view the final rule, click here.
It has been a truly collaborative effort for the past 11 years by the CTA, ATA’s Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference (AFTC), other Agricultural stakeholders, the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and the FMCSA to get a workable AG securement rule passed.
Because the Final Rule for Cargo Securement was dated April 15, 2019 this means the securement rules are now covered under the Federal rules which became effective April 15, 2019. The reporting requirements that were contained in the 11 year exemption are no longer necessary.
