The California Trucking Association (CTA) announced the winners of the 2019 Fleet Safety Awards, an annual event recognizing efforts to successfully improve safety within the trucking industry. Honorees included individual companies, as well as individuals who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to promote and implement best practices for safe trucking across the state.

“Safety is a top priority for the California Trucking Association and our members,” said CTA CEO Shawn Yadon. “Through our annual Fleet Safety Awards, our association recognizes the accomplishments of the men and women in trucking, while promoting the highest standards of fleet safety in the commercial vehicle transportation industry. It is with great pride that we award these trucking professionals who are having a profoundly positive impact on trucking throughout the state.”

Among those being honored, is Mike Kolb with Mike Kolb Trucking Inc., who received the 2019 Fleet Safety Professional of the Year Award.

“I am beyond honored to receive the 2019 Fleet Safety Professional of the Year, especially given the great passion I have for managing my trucking business on a foundation of uncompromising safety,” stated Mike Kolb.

Additional 2019 award recipients include:

Board of Directors Grand Trophy
(less than $10 million gross revenue)
Liberty Linehaul West, Inc.

Board of Directors Grand Trophy
(more than $10 million gross revenue)
Mountain Valley Express

Charlie Giles Award for Most Improved Fleet
Plastic Express

All companies and individuals who are awarded by CTA are subject to a series of tests and reviews under the purview of an independent panel of judges, comprised of safety professionals and government agencies. The panel is tasked with evaluating how the select companies organize their safety programs, driver training and supervision, preventative maintenance and the overall record of accident reduction to demonstrate an indisputable commitment to safety on California’s highways. Finally, a field audit is conducted by a certified safety professional in order to ensure all winning entries are accurate.

A complete list of the 2019 Fleet Safety Award winners is available on CTA’s Fleet Safety webpage.
