CTA President Meets with Caltrans and DMV Directors

Earlier this week, 2018 CTA President Lynnette Brown met with Caltrans Director Laurie Berman and Deputy Director of Maintenance and Operations Steve Takigawa to discuss various items that CTA works on with the Caltrans. Discussion topics included transportation funding (and the need to protect transportation dollars), truck parking issues as well as progress on issues that have impacted the over size and overweight segment of the industry. In the afternoon President Brown met with DMV Director Jean Shiomoto. Some of the topics discussed were acknowledging the DMV’s commitment to reducing wait times for CDL drive tests (which continues to improve) as well as exploring ways to streamline the registration process for owners of commercial motor vehicles. Director Shiomoto reiterated the Department’s commitment to look into ways to make the registration process more efficient for the industry.
