California Trucking Association Members Give Back to Local Community

More than $300,000 donated to local organizations around the state

 

(SACRAMENTO) — The California Trucking Association (CTA) its regional units and member companies are proud to continue their support of national, state and local nonprofit, community programs.

In 2017, CTA’s regional units donated more than $300,000 to charities throughout the state, giving back to causes that address topics including children’s health, public safety, medical assistance and disaster relief.

"The trucking industry values our role in supporting local nonprofits," said CTA CEO Shawn Yadon. "Our members want to give back to the communities they call home, and their generosity is remarkable. Through their contributions, our regional units have been able to support a wide range of vital programs and causes." 

Members of the trucking community, working through CTA’s 12 regional units, are able to identify individual needs in their communities, and make significant contributions to a wide array of charities and local organizations, including these sizable donations:

• Truckers Rally for Kids  $71,500 (San Bernardino / Riverside Unit)
• Trucking for Hospice: $40,000 (San Joaquin Unit)
• Make-A-Wish Foundation: $22,000 (Kern Unit)
• CHP’s SOBER Graduation: $12,000 (Central Valley Unit)
• Merced College Foundation: $10,000 (Central Valley Unit)
• Art Thompson Teen Center: $9,500 (San Bernardino / Riverside Unit)

"Perhaps one of our unit’s most meaningful contributions of 2017 was the $71,657 collected by the San Bernardino / Riverside Unit during the Truckers Rally For Kids," said Tiffany Leal, CTA’s San Bernardino / Riverside Unit chair. "Being able to give back in such a big way is empowering to our unit members. They truly embody the can-do attitude and community spirit that makes truckers special." 

With recent changes in federal law, CTA anticipates the trucking industry’s ongoing efforts to support local nonprofits will be even more meaningful in the future.
