Senate Transportation Hears AB 2406 Today

The Senate Transportation Committee is scheduled to hear Assembly Bill 2406 today, June 14 at 1:30 pm.
 
AB 2406 by Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry seeks to protect California businesses from being charged excessive and unfair fees (detention/demurrage) by intermodal marine equipment providers for reasons outside the control of the business by clarifying and modernizing the protections set by SB 45 (Alarcon, 2005).
 
CTA is a co-sponsor of AB 2406 and has led a coalition of more than 60 organizations representing agricultural exporters, retailers, manufacturers, and other California based businesses.
 
 Chris Shimoda, CTA’s Vice President of Government Affairs joins Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry as lead witness in support of this measure.
 
Additionally, the committee has made testifying via teleconference available for members interested in voicing their support.

The moderators will announce when public comment opens in support of AB 2406 and will instruct listeners to press “10.”
