Redefining Leadership for Case Managers: Why Now Is the Time to Step Up
In a healthcare system strained by workforce shortages, rising complexity, and organizational change, leadership is no longer optional for case managers; it’s essential. From guiding teams through daily challenges to influencing policy and system-wide transformation, the role of the case management leader is evolving in real-time.
To meet this moment, the Case Management Society of America is launching its first-ever Virtual Leadership Conference on Saturday, October 11, 2025—a one-day, immersive experience designed specifically for mid- to senior-level professionals who are ready to lead, rethink, and reimagine the future of case management.
Unlike traditional conferences, this event is centered on practical leadership development, offering a rare mix of financial acumen, strategic positioning, operational redesign, and cultural intelligence. From understanding financial statements to building influence at the executive table, participants will walk away with tools that are immediately actionable and tailored to real-world challenges.
Highlights include:
- A new model for acute care case management
- Leadership through adversity with a candid panel of senior case managers
- Financial fluency for healthcare professionals to align with system-wide goals
- Strategies for leading virtual teams and designing a resilient workplace culture
The event will be held live on Zoom with access to session recordings for on-demand learning. With 6 CEs pending across multiple credentials and sessions led by some of the field’s most respected voices, this is more than just a conference—it’s a leadership reset for today’s complex healthcare environment.

Chapter Highlights: CMSA Eastern Tennessee
This month, we’re proud to spotlight the exciting expansion of the CMSA Chattanooga Chapter, which recently merged with the Knoxville Chapter to form CMSA Eastern Tennessee. This strategic merger was driven by a shared vision to better serve case managers across the region through increased access to education and networking. By adopting a primarily virtual format for meetings and events and rotating the location of their in-person annual conference, the chapter has opened the door to broader participation and regional engagement.
Already, this growth has resulted in increased membership, expanded revenue, and new opportunities for leadership involvement from across Eastern Tennessee and potentially beyond. CMSA Eastern Tennessee is using this momentum to explore further expansion throughout the Southeastern United States, continuing to strengthen the reach and impact of case management professionals.
