Opening Keynote
After a video showing clips from his work on The Doctors and as a guest on other shows, Travis Stork, MD, addressed a full Arie Crown Theater. He asked the attendees to think of what was most important in their lives and guessed afterward that most had thought of their family or other loved ones. Then he stressed that to be able to be there for those other people, it’s necessary to focus on one’s own health. While he began as an emergency department physician, he said his passion is preventing illness. In keeping with that, he shared five lessons:
Lesson #1: Let Food Be Your Medicine, Not Your Poison
Lesson #2: Sit Less, Move More
Lesson #3: The Mind and Body ARE Connected
Lesson #4: Focus on the "Health" in Health Care
Lesson #5: Make Health Your Hobby
He said that small positive changes can end up yielding big results over time and stressed that attendees should focus on their own health, because "each individual in this room makes a difference."
