Following up on a study in which Smartvid.io’s artificial intelligence engine “Vinnie” learned from contractor Suffolk's data to predict roughly one in five safety incidents with 81 percent accuracy, nine major construction firms are partnering with the software company to further develop predictive analytics and therefore prevent incidents and reduce risk across the industry, according to a Smartvid announcement from CEO and Founder Josh Kanner.
 
The pipeline of construction work is strong for many contractors across the country, which makes winning that next job an ongoing project itself. Business development never ceases for industry go-getters who leverage their people, expertise and reputation to land additional jobs.

Surging value of commercial projects and highway and road work put in place lead January’s construction spending rise, which was the largest in nine months. After two months of U.S. construction spending declines, milder than usual weather appears to have boosted the total value of construction put in place for the month 1.3 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.28 trillion.
