Chair's Corner
Letter from the CMP Governance Commission Chair
Back in January, I asked you what you thought the future is for the CMP, how should employers be viewing those who hold the CMP, and how should the CMP be perceived inside and outside of our industry in the year 2020? I heard from many different viewpoints and many different views. In all the messages, three main themes stood out: The CMP program should be rigorous, relevant to the work we do, and drive value for practitioners and employers.

Recertification
Did You Know?
Is it time for you to recertify? If so, here’s a tip.

You probably know that you have to submit continuing education activities for recertification. But, did you know that half of your continuing education credits can be non-industry specific if the learning objective of the session/course is related to one of the 10 domains of the CMP International Standards?

What does "non-industry specific but relating to the CMP Standards" mean? It means, for example, that if you have a general course topic entitled "Project Management 101," it can be used for continuing education. Since the course is not event/meeting specific, it will be counted towards your non-industry-specific hours as Project Management is a domain in the CMP International Standards. Questions on the topic? The CMP Recertification Handbook is a great resource. You may also contact a member of the CMP team for answers.

APEX - Standards and Best Practices
Free New Resource! RFP Strategy Guide for Event Internet & Communications Available Now!
As the complexity of Internet for meetings rises so does the required due diligence around sourcing of services, the price paid and the value those services bring.
APEX created a workbook to develop your RFP strategy around Internet for meetings and guide the conversation with a venue about your event Internet and Communications needs.

In response to these concerns, the Convention Industry Council, as part of the APEX initiative, assembled a work group and commissioned a research study to identify the motivations for mass distribution and to develop recommendations for process improvements.
