CLFP is currently seeking donations for the 2019 Supplier Host Council Reception & Silent Auction to be held on February 12 in conjunction with the Food Processing Expo in Sacramento. The auction raises funds for CLFP’s Scholarship Program.
 
 
   
CLFP announced its 2018-19 Scholarship Program Awards at its Fall Board of Directors Meeting held in Stockton on October 25. A total of $29,000 in scholarship funds were awarded.
 
 
   
More than 100 CLFP members enjoyed a warm, sunny day of golf at the 22nd Annual CLFP Supplier Host Council Golf Tournament held at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton on October 26. The tournament is held every year to help raise funds for CLFP’s Scholarship Program.

The California Department of Water Resources released a Benefit-Cost Analysis for California’s WaterFix project that estimates billions of dollars in benefits for Californians who obtain their water from participating State Water Project (SWP) contractors.

All 80 California state Assembly seats and half the Senate seats were up for grabs in the general election on November 6. Democrats won supermajorities in both chambers of the Legislature. Two-third majorities allow Democrats to raise taxes, suspend legislative rules and override vetoes without Republican votes.
 
After receiving a letter from Governor Jerry Brown and Governor-elect Gavin Newsom, the State Water Resources Control Board (Board) voted on November 7 to delay action on a proposal to amend the Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan, which included changes to the minimum flow standards for the Lower San Joaquin River. The Board took testimony and voted to postpone the item until December 12. The Board’s decision will have a significant effect on water supplies for farmers in the region.
