Gamma Chapter report

I hope you all had a great summer and some time to take a break from the daily demands. Taking a break and reflecting is important for our own well-being. We sometimes forget that we need to create a working brain and a life brain. This means we should be keeping work at work and enjoy our time at home.

COVID-19 has adjusted all our lives at work and at home. You are not alone if you are having difficulty adjusting to the new normal; do not hesitate to reach out to friends, colleagues or support systems provided by your workplace or communities.

Medical device reprocessing has been gaining recognition across the province in planning surgical backlog. It is great to see that everyone is being brought to the table to ensure all surgical needs can be met with resources, equipment and facility productions to create a model to go above 100% surgical thruput in the near future.

I have recently joined a MDR community of 17 hospitals within Ontario to share key performance indicators that meets monthly to share recent successes and failures to improve MDRs across Ontario. This shows how strong the MDR community is and is focused not only on improving quality standards but working on retention and recruitment on creating workplaces of choice.

MDRAO understands your daily challenges and is continuously working on ensuring you have the support, education and methods to motivate you all to be proud members of what you do.

Thank you all for everything you do and showing up each day knowing what you do helps someone enjoy life in a better way each day. Your dedication for perfection and quality is what matters, and we all appreciate it.

Wishing you all an exciting fall,

John McHardy (Gamma Chapter President)
