The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is proud to announce a new scholarship for Beacon, their annual student competition. Beacon is a renowned program designed to encourage beauty industry students to aggressively prepare for successful careers. Students who enter Beacon submit professional business portfolios, including items such as their resume and a marketing piece, which are judged on creativity and content. Students whose portfolios rank the highest are invited to attend PBA Beauty Week, hosted by Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas in July.
Two Department of Education Gainful Employment Webinars — Coming Soon
AACS has received advance notice of two U.S. Department of Education Gainful Employment webinars taking place later this month. The first, scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2015 will provide participants with new information and guidance on how to review the "Completer Lists." The second one is the following day, Thursday, November 19, 2015 , and will focus upon the Department's new Data Challenges and Appeals Solution system. In light of the Department's presentations, AACS will not host our own GE 2.0 webinars this month, but will resume them in mid-December after participating in the Department's two November webinars and attending the Department's FSA Conference, December 1-4. Associate Member Elected to AACS Board of Directors
Congratulations to Associate Member, Teresa Lewis, who was elected to serve on the AACS Board of Directors (2015- 2017) by a vote during the AACS Annual Convention & Expo. Teresa Lewis is a licensed nail technology instructor and holds a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Monmouth College. She has represented OPI for over 17 years and is now owner and CEO of YourNewSchool. 10 MUD Make-up Scholarships Debut in 2016
Beauty Changes Lives announced its first professional makeup scholarship during the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) Annual Convention & Expo in Phoenix, October 23-26. The BCL | MUD Make-up Scholarship will award 10 $2,500 scholarships to students enrolled in cosmetology or esthetics programs. Five spring and five fall scholarships will be offered to expand students’ knowledge of makeup artistry. The application window opens February 22, 2016.
