State Authorization Initiative, Member Notice
In light of the U.S. Department of Education's second notice of delay in implementation of the final regulations promulgated under 34 CFR, Section 600.9 – State Authorization (published June 24, 2014); AACS is redoubling our on-going efforts to ensure that our students and member institutions are, or will be, in compliance by the new July 1, 2015 implementation date. Free Educator Webinar and Resources
The CEA Convention might be over with—but that doesn’t mean we’re through with motivating educators throughout the year! Our closing session speaker from the event, "The Red Shoe Lady," will be holding a free webinar for anyone who would like to attend. She’ll be doing a follow-up to her presentation on "The Power of Presence." Register now for this webinar, which will be Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 1pm – 2pm EDT. Also, head on over to our CEA Annual Convention webpage where you’ll find a plethora of post-event information, including videos and pics from the event, along with links to Power Point presentations and handouts from many of the speakers. Be sure to look under the event tab below for a two-day training regional event for educators in Phoenix this November.

 

Nominations for Board of Directors
Per the AACS By-Laws this is the official notification that there will be two School Member seats and one Associate Member seat up for election during the annual AACS Business Meeting to be held on Sunday, November 16 during the Annual Convention & Expo in Phoenix, AZ. Registration Now Open for AACS Annual
AACS will celebrate 90 years as an association at the AACS Annual Convention & Expo, November 14-17. Registration has now opened and for the first time ever, attendee registration will also get you into the historic GRC Fundraising event. And this year you’ll party in style at a Roaring ‘20s Party, Sunday night of the event. Discount hotel rates are available, so book your ticket now! NEW: Educator Training at AACS Annual in November
In conjunction with the AACS Annual Convention & Expo, November 14-17, we’ll have educator training on Sunday & Monday of the event! For $149, educators will earn 12 hours of methodology education taught by CEA Chair Carol Woodard. Breakfast and lunch will be served each day and Sunday includes time for educators to join AACS Annual attendees in the Expo Hall to visit vendor booths. Vidal Sassoon Scholarship Competition: New Entry Rules
Beauty Changes Lives launched the next round for the Vidal Sassoon Scholarship Competition this past week. Ten winners will receive 50% of their tuition paid to attend cosmetology school and 10 licensed cosmetologists will receive advanced education to Sassoon Academy. There are updated entry requirements, so be sure to read about the changes. BCL also has massage and nail scholarship competitions open. Check out these opportunities and download marketing material to help promote the competitions to your prospects.
