Back to school season is ushering in a new calendar of Beauty Changes Lives scholarships. Effective August 1, four scholarships are accepting applications through August 15. The Fall 2018 Beauty Changes Lives scholarship schedule is available at https://beautychangeslives.org/scholarships-at-a-glance/ and even includes a scholarship opened to licensed educators.  Be sure to check out the new and existing scholarships available.

Late last month, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed in to law a bill to allow early testing.  HB 4883, effective January 1, 2019, will allow prospective barbers and cosmetologists to test after completing 1,200 hours of instruction – which is 80 percent of the required course of study.  Similarly, applicants for licensure as an esthetician will be allowed to take the licensure examination after completing 600 hours of instruction and applicants for licensure as a nail technician will be permitted to test after completing 280 hours of instruction.
