What's Hot
This past week, industry leaders from across the country met in Chandler, AZ for the 2017 AACS School Leaders Summit. As a group, critical issues we are facing were discussed – deregulation, gainful employment, competency-based education, and the dire need for innovation. These conversations will drive the next steps we take as an Association, and lay the ground work for how we move forward.

Surveys have been emailed to all members who attended the event. Your voice is important to us – please take the time to share your feedback with us. And - one lucky participant who completes their survey by May 15 will win a complimentary registration to the 2018 AACS School Leaders Summit!

Thank you to all of the members who attended, and thank you to our Sponsors who made it all possible:

Are you taking action on your customer data? You may be in charge of uncovering the insights, but you need to figure out what makes the consumers of your insights move. Speak their language. Motivate them. Help them be successful.

Only about 1/3 of businesses that collect customer data actually make changes based on the information they receive. If you want to put your data to work, check out this list from FutureLab on key concepts to consider to turn data into something actionable and consumable.

This week, HB 7047 and SB 802 both died in Florida upon the sine die adjournment of the legislature. These bills stripped language reducing training hours for barbering, nail specialists, facial specialists, full specialists, hair braiding and wrapping. In Hawaii, SB 947 authorizes the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to cite schools for a series of violations. And in Texas, HB 2739 eliminates space requirements for barber schools and specifies construction requirements for beauty schools.

Read more about these bills and others in this week’s AACS State Relations Update.

Enhance your program with new skills that will take your students to a new level of client care, one more fitting current clientele. Train your technicians to work safely with three groups of clients who formerly were told to or desired to avoid nail salons: the fragile elderly who were directed not to go to nail salons; the fearful consumer whom the media scared away from nail technicians; and the chronically ill client who required special care due to chronic conditions, such as diabetes. You will be taught how to refer to and receive referrals from physicians and podiatrists who hold a new respect for your technicians. Taught how to take these skills to a welcoming public and an interested medical community, the technicians will expand their clientele and their job market while dramatically increasing respect for themselves, the school that trained them, and the nail industry. Join Janet McCormick from NailCare Academy for this timely and relevant webinar.
