On behalf of the AACS Board of Directors we are announcing today a change in leadership on the AACS Board. Don Yearwood has been scheduled for hip replacement surgery and we wish him the best for a safe surgery and for a speedy recovery. Don recognizes that this will take his full attention to rehabilitate and therefore has resigned as the Board President for AACS.
While we will all miss Don’s leadership, we can all appreciate that health and family must come first. I know that we are all grateful to Don for his long history of leadership and engagement with the AACS Board and as our President. I also know that we all appreciate how difficult this decision was for him, but that it is truly one made in the best interest of the Association and the members.
The AACS Board has acted with urgency and has unanimously voted to appoint Christine Gordon as our President to continue to lead our association at this very critical time. Her past leadership as President along with her continued support of the Government Relations Committee makes her a perfect choice to lead us for the 2015 – 2016 year.
As the Board Secretary, I have been asked to communicate this to the membership to let you know that as of today, December 2, 2015 the Board has accepted Don Yearwood’s resignation and has appointed Christine Gordon as the AACS President. The Board has acted timely to ensure our membership that we have a strong leadership team in place to execute our strategic plan.
Please join the Board in thanking Don Yearwood for his leadership and service and to wish him well with his pending surgery. In addition, on behalf of the Board we thank Christine Gordon in advance for her time and support of the association as she takes over as President.
Please feel free to reach out to any of the AACS Board members with any questions or comments that you might have regarding this announcement.
Thank you for your continued support of AACS.
Sincerely,
Lynelle Lynch
AACS Board Secretary
