The Arizona House Military, Veterans and Regulatory Affairs Committee voted 5 to 4 on Monday to advance HB 2011 to the Rules Committee and then to the House floor. As previously reported, the bill proposes to exempt from licensure "persons who dry, style, arrange, dress, curl, hot iron or shampoo and condition hair if the service does not include the application of reactive chemicals to permanently straighten, curl or alter the structure of the hair."
A bipartisan bill was introduced in Kentucky last week to establish a 300-hour blow drying services license. SB 106 defines "Blow drying services" to include any of the following services performed on an individual's hair: arranging; cleaning; curling; dressing; blow drying; and performing any other similar procedure. The bill has been referred to the Senate Licensing, Occupations, & Administrative Regulations Committee.
