In the States: Another Florida Hour Reduction Bill and Iowa Rules Allowing Online Coursework

Florida State Senator Jeff Brandes (R) introduced SB 526 on October 13th. The bill, which is similar to HB 15, would reduce the number of hours of training for barbers and restricted barbers from 1,200 to 600 for barbers and from 1,200 to 325 for restricted barbers.
On the regulatory front, Iowa’s Board of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences has released proposed amendments to its administrative rules. Of note, the amendments would allow for online coursework for theory and core life sciences instruction.
