In California, Governor Jerry Brown recently signed both SB 547 and AB 326 into law. As previously reported, SB 547 includes language clarifying the supervision required of a cosmetology, barbering, skin care, nail care or electrology apprentice by defining "under the supervision of a licensee."
Florida’s House Commerce Committee conducted a hearing Tuesday on HB 15, which would reduce the number of hours of training for barbers and restricted barbers from 1,200 to 600 for barbers and from 1,200 to 325 for restricted barbers.
In the State of Washington, final rules clarifying requirements for initial school licensure, facilities, school closure, school catalogs, enrollment contracts, and cancellation and refund policies were recently published in the Washington State Register and become effective October 13, 2018.
