Two BIG proposals will have their first readings at the City Council on Wednesday, April 15:

2 P.M.: PORTLAND PARKS SDC

Central City Office Increases 118%
Non-Central City Office Increases: 281%

BOMA has partnered with NAIOP and other business groups to oppose the increase. We have retained an expert to analyze the proposal and identify flaws in the way the fees have been calculated. The report will be sent to all BOMA members this week.

The proposed increases will have a significant impact on all new construction.

3:30 P.M.: ENERGY PERFORMANCE REPORTING PROPOSAL

Mandatory energy consumption reporting will be a hardship for many building owners.

The current proposal does not require the utilities to automatically upload energy data into Portfolio Manager. Utilities are only required to provide owner with access to the monthly energy consumption.

The City of Seattle's policy requires the utilities to upload energy consumption data into Portfolio Manager.

BOMA proposes a phase-in of this new policy over three years, allowing the industry and utilities time to adapt.

The seminar provides insights into how an outcome-based, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategy can offer the promise enhancing the effectiveness of asset management programs in a way no other single concept has matched. This presentation will review the traditional approaches to facilities maintenance and how they compare and contrast with a reliability-centered strategy.
