Energy Coalition Wraps up DOE Comments on DPPP

On Monday, PHTA's Energy Coalition submitted comments to the Department of Energy on the proposed dedicated purpose pool pump (DPPP) motor rule. The submission concluded weeks of intense work by the Coalition, culminating with a two-day working session at PHTA headquarters in Alexandria, VA. PHTA was joined by representatives from the National Electrical Manufactures Association, who help craft industry comments in response to the proposed rulemaking.
In June, the Department of Energy issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR) proposing energy conservation standards for DPPP, including a performance standard, and design requirements for certain classes of DPPP motors. The proposed standards, if adopted, would apply to affected DPPP motors greater than .5 total horsepower and go into effect 2 years after the publication of the final rule.
The PHTA Energy Coalition began in 2013 with the mission to amplify the pool and spa industry's voice within Congress, the federal government, and engage industry in the national energy efficiency debate. Over the years, the Coalition has brought together all areas of industry to provide a unified voice on efficiency issues affecting industry at the federal and state levels.
