We’ve been considering how live streaming may have benefits for AMCI and our members and there are a few areas we think it has great applicability. Clearly it provides a significant platform for interaction and we can see its benefits for impromptu Q&A sessions and for announcements.  But we also see how it can be a fantastic mechanism for accessing crowd wisdom and for getting authentic feedback on our initiatives. Obviously, live streaming also provides a way to expand reach.

The question we’re wrestling with is: Which platform should we embrace?

Each of them has their benefits and the dust is still settling. It’s hard to ignore the reach of Periscope. With the backing and integration of Twitter, Periscope has taken the lead in terms of its benefits for marketers. Meerkat is still a force to be reckoned with (they recently got a huge capital injection), but streaming broadcasts through Facebook doesn’t provide the level of professional connection opportunities AMCI has on other platforms.  Blab -- which is used by Association Chat for their weekly sessions – is really gaining traction because they allow multi-user live streaming, which drives more engagement and a stronger collaborative conversational approach.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on which app you're using and the success you've had with it.  Let us know via our Quick Survey at http://www.amcinstitute.org/surveys/?id=683567
