AHVAP Your EASY Button to your Value Analysis “WHY”

In the Simon Sinek book, “Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action,” Sinek discusses our need to know and understand both our personal and professional “Why.” He describes how our why is a personal and professional decision about your individual and professional purpose. Our why is what keeps us focused and moving with intentionality toward our purpose and life direction.

AHVAP as an organization provides our industry leading Value Analysis “Why” and how Value Analysis supports and advances our profession. Last month, I wrote about unapologetic leadership and the qualities of an unapologetic leader. Unapologetic leaders have the courage and determination to stand up for what they believe in and the path to accomplish the goal. Unapologetic leaders are not afraid to challenge the “current state” or status quo.

As Value Analysis leaders, we are eager and thrilled to both challenge and influence our healthcare industry. We enthusiastically look forward to sharing the importance of value analysis practice and principles. When Value Analysis Professionals have a seat “at the table” the organization increases their opportunity for success. As unapologetic Value Analysis Professionals, we are ready and willing to improve our healthcare industry.

As we head into our holiday season and look forward to Thanksgiving, what better time to reflect on our Value Analysis journey and opportunity? Coming off our extraordinarily successful AHVAP conference, I am both inspired and incredibly proud of our AHVAP unapologetic courage and the progress AHVAP has made to advance our Value Analysis profession. A friend recently gave me the most beautiful book of inspirational quotes. A quote that spoke to me was from Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” This quote speaks to me about our opportunity as Value Analysis professionals and our chance to be one of the tools that improves healthcare.

I hope you will join me as we are unapologetic in our continued quest for advancement of Value Analysis and the positive impact we can have in the healthcare industry. We dedicate ourselves to our Value Analysis “Why” and we are using our courage to continue our AHVAP and Value Analysis advancement.

Sincerely,

Karen Niven, MS, BSN, RN, CVAHP™
