Dear AHVAP Members and Affiliates,

It was spectacular to reconnect at AHVAP’s 2022 National Conference and Supplier Showcase in Dallas, Texas, October 26-28, 2022. It was thrilling to listen to such rich and valuable educational sessions as AHVAP speakers delivered on the “Together in Value” theme. A special thank you goes out to Premier, Inc. for the keynote sponsorship for Susan DeVore. Susan previously served as the President and CEO of Premier, Inc. and she opened the conference with a dynamic review of the importance of leading from the front in today’s dynamic healthcare environment, providing attendees with valuable leadership tips. One lesson she shared was “Know your Why!” Each Value Analysis Leader and professional must know the “why” of their role within their healthcare organization and how they individually contribute to the organization’s overall success, sustainability, and consistent delivery of exceptional patient care.

All conference speakers delivered great presentations on value analysis initiatives and data-driven savings projects for members to take back actionable tactics and ideas to their organizations. The Supplier Showcase of Platinum and Gold Sponsors had significant participation and delivered that intimate one-to-one connection with Value Analysis and Supply Chain professionals. Our suppliers are on the leading edge of clinical innovation in products and medical technologies, and the AHVAP membership is extremely appreciative of their partnership.

In addition, AHVAP’s 2022 Board of Directors Officers presented an overview of the annual goals, strategic accomplishments in 2022, our association’s financial performance, and a sneak peek into what is coming up in 2023 during Thursday’s annual business meeting. During the annual business meeting, a Presidential Citation Award was presented to a founding member, great colleague, and mentor, Barbara Strain, for her instrumental accomplishments as AHVAPs Strategic Board Liaison for her work over the past two years. Barbara’s term advising the Board of Directors will conclude the first week of December. The organization is extremely appreciative of her tremendous service to the organization. I am also very proud of my volunteer colleague’s dedication and achievements in their roles as AHVAP’s Committee Chairs, Co-Chairs, and committee members for their commitment, goal-driven, and dedication to bringing forth quality education sessions, programs, and events to members that are crucial to our profession.

The 2022 Brooke Berson was awarded to another great colleague and mentor, Dee Donatelli. We can’t thank Dee enough for her knowledge and industry expertise over the years, and for her dedication to AHVAP, along with her commitment, continuous support, and voluntary services on many of the AHVAP Committees while bringing AHVAP onto the national stage. Congratulations, Dee, what a special honor and so very well-deserved!

The future of AHVAP is extremely bright. The 2023 calendar year will be even more exciting as AHVAP has plans to continue to increase our professional development offerings, including a Fellows Program, Executive Leadership Development Certificate Program, monthly Continuing Education Webinars, and a Mentoring Program.   Partnerships with leading professional organizations like the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) will be a focus for AHVAP as we deepen the reach of the value analysis specialty and increase interprofessional collaboration across disciplines. AHVAP is also making new investments in taking our board certification, the CVAHPÔ credential, to the next level thru digital badging, electronic promotional materials, and increased continuing education options. AHVAP is a multi-disciplinary organization that represents healthcare facilities, integrated delivery networks, group purchasing organizations, manufacturers, distributors, students, and more. As such, AHVAP’s strategic direction is laser focused on executing on delivering world-class value to our members and paving the way for increased recognition of the specialty of value analysis. As your President, it is my pleasure and a great honor to serve you and lead our great organization. Together in Value we will continue to make our lasting mark across healthcare!

Happy Holidays!
