Dear AHVAP Members and Affiliates,

We are almost through February, and what a great month it’s been to celebrate; whether you received a first or second vaccination or just because Valentine’s Day is this month. I hope you had the opportunity to share it with loved ones over great food and company, even if you’re still in take-out mode.

While we know the vaccine supply continues to be low, we must stay positive that everyone is doing their part from federal, state, and local levels to ensure appropriate distribution to organizations across the country. As Value Analysis professionals, the strategic elements of the Healthcare Value Analysis Foundational Pillars, (Governance & Structure, Methodology, Professionalism & Business Ethics, and Finance) are our guiding principles. We anticipate that our policy makers are utilizing similar strategic elements as they work toward finding solutions for the best of all our communities, even if we differ by state and counties.

This year, AHVAP is about membership growth as the pandemic took a toll on our economy and our networking abilities. We are anxious, committed and working diligently to have our live national conference this year in Scottsdale, Arizona, Oct. 27-29. The theme, 360 Degree Change: Developing a Resilient Culture, speaks to how our world has changed professionally and personally. AHVAP’s committees are dedicated to ensuring that all members and affiliates are receiving the highest quality professional education and receiving the best value of their membership. New programs are in development such as Membership Introduction for a more formal on-boarding process, and the Healthcare Industry Advisory Council (HIAC) to enhance collaboration and communication among affiliate members to build upon a stronger foundation of programs and relationships.

Continue to take advantage of all upcoming AHVAP Webinars and Podcasts, seek an opportunity to join one of the AHVAP Committees where you can make a difference to expand upon our goals, and start preparing if you haven’t already done so to become a certified AHVAP Value Analysis Healthcare Professional (CVAHP) to shine your Value Analysis skills! I look forward to hearing and seeing you soon.

With good health,

–Susan A. Toomey, BSHA, CVAHP, CMRP
