The IBEC Committee has been very active, which is something to be said for 2020! Through IBEC agreements, AHVAP provides opportunities for reciprocal education sharing with healthcare suppliers, professional organizations, institutes and academia with the goal to educate the broader healthcare industry to the tenets of value analysis.

Here are highlights of a few of the IBECs agreements:

Healthcare Hygiene Magazine (HHM) with an article in their December 2020 issue summarizing learnings of the VA101 and 201 courses as well as a full ad featuring AHVAP. If you are not a current subscriber to this magazine dedicated to “building bridges between infection prevention/epidemiology, scientific/R&D, manufacturing and regulatory compliance,” then we encourage you to follow the link to their homepage and be amazed at what you have been missing that can assist in understanding the importance of certain characteristics to be considered in your day-to-day decision making. More great education collaborations coming in 2021.

Healthcare Surfaces Institute (HSI) whose mission is “to reduce preventable infections through collaboration of industry, academia, science, regulatory and service sectors by interrupting the transmission of surface-related pathogens in healthcare in support of community and public health.” AHVAP has a seat at the table with other thought leaders to develop key programs to assure the safety and efficacy of disposables equipment, surfaces to make our healthcare environments the best they can be in providing quality outcomes while spending wisely. In exchange, Linda Lybert, Founder and Executive Director of HIS, will be presenting a webinar scheduled in April 2021 summarizing some of the key work that will affect the way we approve and purchase devices and surfaces.

ECRI and AHVAP are putting the final touches on a White Paper discussing risk mitigation during COVID19 and beyond. AHVAP’s own Chris Hannon, MBA, MHA, Gloria and Barbara collaborated with Jesse Munn MBA and Tim Brown Executive Director from ECRI on content from various lenses. Look for this early in 2021.

Arizona State University IBEC details have been shared in the most recent past but the great news is the White Paper describing the outcomes of the inaugural “Value Based Care Summit” will be posted on the AHVAP website soon!  In addition to ASU and AHVAP, W.L. Gore was also a sponsor and members of the Summit organizing steering committee. AHVAP 2020 conference attendees were also treated to an overview of the paper by Kristen Will,  PhD(c), MHPE, PA-C, Director, Clinical Programs and Accreditation at ASU College of Health Solutions.

Prior to 2020, the IBEC Committee has been working with Lumere on a provider member survey and with MindRay on a White Paper about on cleaning and disinfectant compatibility with equipment/disposables.  Both of these important educational opportunities were put on hold earlier in 2020.
