Happy Women’s History Month and hello, March 2022! This month we acknowledge and celebrate the vital role that women have contributed to American history. I'd like to thank all of our female leaders who are paving the way in our human resources profession. American Hospital Association
Hospitals and health systems added 2,700 jobs in February, while U.S. jobs overall increased by 678,000, according to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Hospital employment remains over 100,000 below its March 2020 peak, but has grown in 14 of the past 23 months for a slow but steady job recovery.

A significant gender pay gap in physician compensation is persisting in Maryland, a new survey report has found. In 2020, female Maryland physicians earned 50% less on average than male physicians, the survey found.

Nearly $1 billion in annual excess healthcare spending is due to turnover of primary care physicians, a new study has found. The study was led by the American Medical Association and published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings. The analysis found $979 million in excess health spending annually comes from primary care physician turnover, with more than a quarter, $260 million, attributable to burnout.
