Dear ASHHRA Colleagues,

I hope each of you are taking some time to enjoy your summer whether its graduations, vacations, or just relaxing around your home. For me, summer means my wife and I get to spend more time with our dogs hiking the trails around our home and taking them on walks. Summer is a busy, yet exciting time. Amid the busyness, don’t forget to take some time and register for this year’s conference. It’s just a few short months away. You can see some of our exciting topics and keynote speakers by visiting ashhra.org/ashhra18

As health care leaders, I would like to touch upon something that is important to everyone: violence in our workplace and community. This past Friday, June 8, the American Hospital Association (AHA) brought this to the attention of thousands of people across our hospitals, health systems and more through the #HAVhope Day of Awareness. It’s important to keep this type of violence in mind and continually update your workforce on what is acceptable behavior. In addition, as human resource leaders in your organization, have you looked at your handbook and polices to make sure they are up-to-date and addressing this problem?

Finally, I would like to thank our great business partners who continue to support ASHHRA. These business partners are an integral part of our organization and we appreciate their time, knowledge, and contributions. See our current sponsors for the ASHHRA 54th Annual Conference & Exposition by visiting annual.ashhra.org and learn more about how they can support your organization.

Sincerely,
Jamie Parsons, CHHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, FACHE
2018 ASHHRA President
