Greetings, ASHHRA!
Here we are post Labor Day ... where did the summer go? I imagine many of you have been navigating back to school, a college drop off, or planning a winter warm weather get-away? For me, I started a new role the day after Labor Day. As an HR executive, and in my own personal journey, it’s been such a blessing to step back and do a check-in on what’s important to me for my next career move.

A recent study found 30% of certified physician assistants reported at least one symptom of burnout, and almost 8% said they intended to leave the profession in the next year. The study, conducted by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, collected responses in 2021 from more than 111,700 physician assistants who worked in at least one clinical position.

The California Medical Association and the American Medical Association have filed a joint amicus curiae brief defending a California law that prohibits the use of the term "doctor," or the prefix "Dr.", by anyone other than California-licensed allopathic and osteopathic physicians. The groups warned that a misrepresentation of a practitioner's level of licensing can jeopardize patient safety.

Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., have introduced the Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees Act, AHA-supported legislation that would make it a federal crime to assault health care workers in hospitals, with enhanced penalties for assaults that result in serious bodily injury.
