The Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) was created in 2000 to document our country's dynamic landscapes. Each year, the HALS office at the National Park Service issues a challenge, encouraging landscape architects and preservation professionals to document historic landscapes related to a new theme. The theme of the 2013 challenge is “Documenting the Cultural Landscapes of Women.”

Advocacy
The FLASLA Government Affairs Committee (GAC) and the Chapter’s lobbyist team are hard at work during the current session. The following is a summary of legislative affairs that the Chapter is tracking on your behalf. Each of these topics have been identified by the GAC as items that may influence the practice of landscape architecture in Florida. We are vigorously tracking each of these and endeavor to keep you informed on all of them.
